Home/Admissions

Joining the school.

We are a no-fee public primary. Admission is by application; we accept any child whose family lives in our catchment area, regardless of background.

A short note before you apply

We do not test, rank, or interview to exclude.

South African policy requires that all public schools accept any child within their feeder zone. We follow that policy with intention. The interview below is to meet your family and to plan supports for your child — not to grade them.

If you are unsure whether you live in our catchment, simply call the office. We will look at the map with you on the phone.

B · Mid-year transfers

Transferring in from another school (Grades 2–6).

We accept transfers in any term, subject to space in the relevant grade. Most transfers happen in January, but we never turn a learner away mid-year if their family has moved into our catchment.

If a grade is full we will place your child on a waiting list and contact you the moment a place opens.

C · Fees

R 0 tuition. We are a No-Fee School.

As a Quintile 3 school under the South African schools funding model, Maimane Primary charges no tuition fees. Lunch (NSNP) and Grade R are also free. Families typically budget around R 420 per year per child for the optional uniform set, stationery pack, and one Pilanesberg trip in Grade 6. Where this is a hardship, the SGB has a discreet support fund — please ask.
